As we kick off Latin American Heritage Month, we are thrilled to introduce you to Helson Albernaz, a Mechanical Apprentice who made the life-changing move from Brazil to Canada in 2021 and is already leaving his mark at Plan Group.

Helson's story begins in Brazil, where he worked as a mechanical engineer for a couple of years, but despite his experience, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. He longed for a more hands-on and practical approach to his work and it was during this time that he discovered his passion for refrigeration systems, but he realized that he needed the hands-on experience that only a trade career could provide.

Determined to pursue his newfound passion, Helson decided to embark on a fresh chapter in Canada. However, this transition presented its own set of challenges: adapting to Canadian freezing winters and going back to school wasn’t easy, Helson refused to let the obstacles deter him from his goals.

Today, it all falls into place for Helson as he takes immense pride in seeing his work come to life. His role in ensuring that people stay comfortable, whether it's keeping them cool in the sweltering heat or warm during the frigid cold, has become his mission and source of fulfilment.

Helson's journey embodies resilience and dedication, contributing to the vibrant Latin American heritage in Canada and, we are immensely proud to have him on our team!
